The project involved the demolition of the existing Visitor's Center and construction of a new highly efficient (beyond Net Zero), 6,500 G.S.F., one-story Visitor's Center over an existing basement/crawl space.

The new Visitor's Center consists of a lobby, exhibit areas, public & staff restrooms, administrative spaces, conference spaces, lunchroom, kitchenette, gift shop/bookstore, and storage areas.

GGD provided MEP-FP and Technology systems design. Sustainable features include a solar parking canopy, electric vehicle charging stations, LED lighting, daylight harvesting, energy recovery unit ventilator, and HVAC and lighting controls.
This was the first DCR project to be awarded LEED certification.
